In this article,we look at the best public universities in Ghana – latest rankings. The ranking criteria is based on a number of factors including but not limited to:

  • Predominantly delivering courses in a traditional face-to-face format
  • Received appropriate Ghanaian higher education –related organization.
  • Offering at least a four-year undergraduate program.

Starting number 10, here is the list of public universities ranked in their order.

University of Energy and Renewable Resources (UENR)

The University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) is a public-funded national institution which seeks to provide leadership and management of energy and natural resources and be a center of excellence in these critical areas.

The University approaches its programmes and research emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration and taking into account, areas such as economics, law and policy, management, science, technology, and engineering as well as social and political issues affecting energy and natural resources.

University of Professional Studies

University of Development Studies (UDS)

University for Development Studies is a non-profit public institution located in Tamale. The University offers certificates, diplomas, associate degrees, bachelor, Masters, and doctorate degrees. Major studies include Business Courses and Public studies.

UDS ranks at no.7 in the list of the top 10 best public universities in Ghana.

Ghana Technology University College (GTUC formerly Ghana Telecom University)

GTUC ranks at no.6 in the list of the best public universities in Ghana. Founded by Ghana Telecom, the national telecommunications company in 2005. It has become one of the best universities in Ghana delivering quality education in courses such as Telecommunications Engineering and ICT.

Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA)

University of Education, Winneba

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology
