‘Pardon us if you do not receive your September/Oct Allowance, its unfortunate’ – NSS Head of Comm.

‘Pardon us if you do not receive your September/Oct Allowance, its unfortunate’- NSS Head of Comm.

Earlier this afternoon, a publication was released stating clearly that the allowances for the September / October period had been diverted for a different purpose – paying newly recruited NABCO participants.

According to the National Service Secretariat Head of Communications, the allowances for the September period might not come as expected.

This declaration has begun raising questions in the minds of many young graduates who have enrolled in this year’s National Service Scheme and yet have not being paid.

The press release, which is being broadcasted through audio format stated..’ all affected immediate national service personnel is to remain patient and we urge them to co-operate with the staff of the Scheme. We had to take this timely decision to help our unemployed graduates’.

It will be recalled that the Payment of allowances to 2013/2014 National Service Personnel was suspended earlier that year to enable the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) undertake a thorough review of the NSS payment process.

The National Service Secretariat will like to extend their apologies to affected personnel while they share their grievances and help make this year’s service a good one.

  1. What the fuck?….Are you guys serious at all?..You people shouldn’t mess with us oo,else. where on earth can you hear this? Are they (NABCO) qualified than us??…We’re all graduates and besides we have started serving already and they’re yet to start so who do you think should be paid first?. Think you guys have reasoning problem. I don’t even get this. Akuffo Addo – Bawumia led government is the worst I have even seen. Buh they shouldn’t remember we gave them power. 2020 is coming and I can’t wait! !!

    • *OPEN LETTER TO THE NATIONAL SERVICE SECRETARIAT ON ALLOWANCES AND MATTERS ARISING*

      Dear NSS,

It gives me no pleasure writing to enquire if National Service Personnel are involved in decisions that affect them through their association NASPA. I am making this enquiry because no National Service person knew that the month of September will be used for authentication and therefore our allowances will be paid at the end of this month as said by *Hon. David Prah, director of Public Affairs*.

We don’t have any problem serving without been paid but it is in the rules and regulations that all NSPs will receive monthly allowances so we expect you to keep your side of the bargain.

In truth, you have a good reason to delay the payment of allowances but at least inform us about it so that we can plan and budget well to prevent the discomfort we are currently going through. Some of us have secured accomodation with the view of paying monthly because we were hoping to receive our allowances at the end of the month. Our little money which was meant for little expenses such as medication has been used for the high cost of transportation. Some of us are now living in territories we have never heard of and far away from our families but with no money for support.

It doesn’t take much to inform us of any issue that affects us because you have already proved to be effective in communicating information such as deals with Hisense, Stalwart etc so informing us earlier that our allowances will be in at the end of October should not have been a problem.

Today is 22nd October and I believe my colleagues have submitted the monthly duty form for this month and we are holding Hon. David Prah by his word that we will receive the allowances for both September and October at the end of this month.

We humbly anticipate your response and hope things will be done appropriately.

      Thank you.

      *KELVIN AKOMEAH*

  4. You can imagine where some of the service personnel have been posted with no family there and have not been paid for almost two month what do you expect us to eat? We started before them and we were supposed to pay before them. They value NABCO more than NSS that’s what I have see it. We the personnel we can’t pay ourselves and so it’s the duty of the head of NSS to take action against some of this issue. In fact Ghana really has a big problem.Working, eating and not earning
Hmmmm. We want to hear a good news and not this.

  5. Why do Ghana politicians toss our life like that, you people think we are fools right.Am a NSS person posted to a village where accommodation and feeding is very difficult and I have been able to manage for two months you don’t want to pay me all in the name of NABCO. This is very silly why don’t you share or better suspend the MPs and the Ministers October allowance and use it to pay us and am sure they will rather understand. Thanx
